On April 6, 2022, it was announced that the Tourism Partnership of Niagara (RTO 2) received a non-repayable contribution of $8.5 million from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), to deliver the Tourism Relief Fund to tourism businesses that included Niagara-On-The-Lake, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Grimsby.
Support was provided to over 70 businesses in the tourism sector to recover from the impacts of the pandemic and seize new market opportunities through enhanced or new products and services.
Through the Tourism Partnership of Niagara, small businesses in the Niagara region were able to apply for non-repayable contributions of up to $100,000 for up to 50 percent of eligible project costs and not-for-profit organizations were able to apply for non-repayable contributions of up to $100,000 for 100 percent of eligible costs.
The funding for this project allowed for the renovation of a heritage barn to expand the retail store and bakery, the installation of an updated HVAC system, new baking equipment and display coolers, and the expansion of the parking lot to include accessible parking, all for increased visitor traffic and to enhance the tourism experience in Fenwick.
The funding allowed for the re-opening of the Nature Centre Indigenous Creations Story Exhibits which included two new exhibits, four new Indigenous activities, an adapted boardwalk trail to support accessibility and important safety upgrades to the miniature golf course as well as the creation of new signage.
The funding for this project allowed for the upgrades of the west patio with a new wood burning pizza oven, a tented/sail area, upper deck, bar enhancement, new stools, kitchen equipment, ice machine, cooler and refrigerators. The east patio upgrades included new tasting areas, furniture and sound system.
The funding allowed the winery to expand its outdoor seating capacity, including the acquisition of a new tent, the construction of a 1250-foot wrap around covered veranda and the purchase and installation of a 1250-foot “sail” for sun protection. There was also the installation of a solar panel infrastructure to power the winery. These additions not only extend their services to three seasons but they also enhance the winery’s sustainable footprint.
The funding for this project allowed for the renovation and upgrade of the Niagara Tourism Hub display. The modernization of the space showcases the gateway to the Niagara region.

Along with the plaques, the funding supported live performance events and the relocation of six public sculptures on loan from Brock University to the downtown core.
